HB 48
House Bill 48 (HB 48), titled “Wildland Urban Interface Modifications,” was passed during the 2025 General Legislative Session in Utah. The bill focuses on reducing wildfire risks in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) and establishes new responsibilities, standards, and fees for homeowners, cities, and counties.

Forestry Fire and State Lands is scheduling public meetings on (HB 48 ) to clarify what the local impact will be and to give the public an opportunity to voice their questions and concerns. As a side note, the map that will be utilized to determine areas of risk has not yet been published by FFSL. They are responsible to create the map. The insurance company’s are also interested in the assessed risk. The county will begin implementing the fee as of January 1, 2026 on the homeowner and business property tax bill.
